Cumilla, Bangladesh Global: A court in Cumilla has rejected the bail petition of Raihan Siddiqui Amman in a case for instigating his classmate Jagannath University (JnU) student Fairuz Sadaf Abantika to commit suicide. On behalf of Amman Siddiqui, his lawyers filed the bail petition at about 11:45am on Sunday (March 24) to Cumilla's senior judicial magistrate court. Later, the court rejected the bail petition.
At night of March 15 last, JnU law department's student Fairuz Sadaf Abantika sent a post to her Facebook page blaming assistant proctor Deein Islam and classmate Amman Siddiqui for her death. Some time after the post, her body hanging with ceiling fan was recovered from her Cumilla city residence.
In connection with the incident, Abantika's mother Tahmina Shabnam filed a case with Kotwali Police Station mentioning that Deen Islam and Amman Siddiqui along with some others had instigated her daughter to commit suicide. Then they were arrested and placed on remand.
